The Prince of
the City Series
Vic Prince is a wise cracking detective, plying his trade in war torn 1940s Liverpool. Unable to enlist because of flat feet and asthma, Prince has an affinity with the City—his great grandfather was brought to Liverpool on the last ever Slave Ship in 1807.
In this first installment, Vic Prince is on the lookout for a missing Persian blue cat everyone seems to want, while searching for the missing son of a beautiful widow who unwittingly puts him on the trail of a hired killer.
As if that isn't enough, his best friend is wanted by the Russians, who are on the trail of a cache of missing guns... but what has this all got to do with the bodies that are found floating in the river Mersey, with no identifiable cause of death? |
Vic is engaged by the wife of a wealthy business man, Cyril Longthorne, who believes her husband is being held against his will by a group stealing his money.
Vic is forced to travel to the popular seaside town of Southport to unravel the mystery, but gets far more than he bargained for when associates of Cyril’s are murdered before he can talk to them... |
Vic meets Henry Swan, Hollywood’s biggest black film star, who is in Liverpool to promote his latest movie. Swan has a rather delicate problem and needs all of Vic’s unique skills to track down his blackmailers, who are hoping to extort three pieces of the Nine Lives from him.
If that isn’t difficult enough, a mysterious female killer is on the trail of the three pieces and is aided and abetted by a hardman from the North East, who makes Everton Cosgrove look like a choir boy. In a rip-roaring finale, Prince risks his own life to help Swan and keep the curios out of enemy hands. |
